With an innovative and operationalization conception, the Support Program for Academic Research and Teaching Production (ProPesquisa) was implemented in 2000 at FGV EBAPE, becoming a pioneer in Brazil. Since then, the program has positively impacted the scientific production of the school’s professors and gained increasing credibility due to its criteria and rigorous evaluation processes.
ProPesquisa aims to generate a quantitative and qualitative increase in research and publications by FGV EBAPE professors. It thus allocates an annual amount of resources to finance studies and encourage academic publications. In addition, it enables professors’ engagement in research activities to generate new evidence and approaches, and new methods that will ultimately be used as a basis for more up-to-date, critical, and profound teaching.
ProPesquisa involves two programs, structured as follows:
Academic Research Support Program
ProPesquisa annually allocates resources for implementing new research projects by FGV EBAPE professors to complement traditional sources of support (CAPES, CNPq, Faperj, and others). Proposals are received by ProPesquisa’s Technical-Academic Coordination and approved by the Research Advisory Committee.
Academic Research Incentive Program
The Academic Research Incentive Program encourages the publication of scientific articles and research books by FGV EBAPE professors, keeping them involved in the generation of cutting-edge knowledge in their areas. This guarantees that the most current Public and Business Administration research is brought to the classroom.
The quality of scientific articles is assessed by bibliometric indicators, such as the CAPES database, the Impact Factor of the Jornal Citation Reports (JCR) database, from the Thomson Reuters agency, and the “h index” from the SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR).
