Sociologist by training, she holds a Master's degree (2002) and a PhD (2009) in Sociology from the Brazilian Society of Instruction – SBI/IUPERJ. She was a Visiting Scholar for one year at Columbia University, NY (2005–2006), with a CNPq scholarship. She worked as an Associate Researcher at the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic School of Health/FIOCRUZ, in the Laboratory of Labor and Professional Education in Health. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning and Research (IPPUR/UFRJ), funded by FAPERJ (2009–2011), and another Postdoctoral program at the University of Wuppertal (Germany). She served as a Lehrbeauftragten (Lecturer) at Bergische Wuppertal Universität (School of Education, 2023–2024). She is currently a researcher at the Interagency Institute (http://interagency.institute/).
