Ishani Aggarwal

Associate professor

Ishani Aggarwal is a professor in the area of Organizational Behavior. Before joining FGV EBAPE she was an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University in the Netherlands and a post-doctoral fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology in the USA. She also works with the Collective Intelligence Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at Carnegie Mellon.

Her research focuses on understanding the impact of team inputs on team processes and performance, and pays close attention to the role of context in influencing this relationship. She is also intrigued by the several compositional and process trade-offs that teams must balance in order to be effective. She studies teams in experimental as well as field settings involving management teams, emergency room teams, and string quartets. In her ongoing research, she studies cognitive diversity, personality composition, learning, creativity, transactive memory systems, collective intelligence and leadership emergence in teams.

Among other research outlets, her work has been published in leading academic journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Management Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Current Directions in Psychological Science and Leadership Quarterly. She also serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Psychology (Organizational Psychology Section) and a reviewer for leading journals in the fields of management, psychology and organizational behavior. She teaches courses on cross-cultural management, and on individuals, diversity, and teams in organizations.
