Felix Garcia Lopez
Since 2009, I have been part of the research career at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA), in the Department of Studies on State, Institutions and Democracy (Diest). I am a professor in the professional master's program in Public Administration at the Brazilian Institute of Development and Research (IDP), and at the Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (EPGE) at Fundação Getúlio Vargas. In recent years, I have been a visiting researcher at the Centre d'Etude de la Vie Politique (2019) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and did postdoctoral research at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University and the Brazilian College of Advanced Studies at UFRJ. For many years, I have conducted research on the interaction between NGOs and the public sector and I am one of the coordinators of the Mapa das Organizações da Sociedade Civil data platform. I also study Brazilian public bureaucracy, particularly appointments to the bureaucratic elite. In this context, I coordinate the Atlas of the Brazilian State platform. I also research the perceptions of Brazilians, particularly the elite, on inequalities and dimensions of social cohesion. In addition to published articles, I edited a book on trust positions in Brazilian coalition presidentialism, a book on the profile of civil society organizations in Brazil, and a book on the developmental trajectories of Brazilian bureaucracies in the New Republic.
