Program in sustainability prepares professionals to take on new challenges and deal with global demands
The advantages of the Sustainability in Emerging Markets track were some of the topics presented during the Careers and Sustainable Development Webinar, held on October 21st by the coordination of the Master in Management Program. The event, conducted by the FGV EBAPE professor and MIM coordinator, Augusto Sales, was attended by the former Executive Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment and professor at FGV EBAPE, Francisco Gaetani, and the Hurb Líder de Novas Verticais and Double Degree MIM student, Ana Feliciano.
While talking about the MIM Program, Francisco Gaetani highlighted that FGV has put together a team of specialists with experience in areas such as biodiversity, climate change, production and circular consumer to stablish relevant debates in the sustainability theme.
“Sustainability is part of the DNA of professionals who will unveil and open new horizons, leading to changes. It is one of the few rising market areas. In the sustainability area, we work with complexity, uncertainty, ambiguity, more transversal and cosmopolitan themes. The program encourages us to establish a dialogue with the world. It is a program that brings possibilities, exchanges”, completes the professor.
Ana Feliciano, a MIM student, highlights the achievements that the program has brought to her career. In 2019, the student was working in consultancy, but was not happy in the area and saw in the MIM Double Degree the possibility of changing her career and combining two of her dreams: go back to studying and do a double degree.
“What caught my attention was all the difference in the program which, in addition to being an academic master's degree with a professional focus, offers the possibility of doing a double degree and studying at the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics – CLSBE”, highlights the student.
According to Ana, thanks to the Double Degree she got a job in Lisbon. After carrying out a great job involving the tourism sector for one of the course's subjects, the student produced a case study on Hurb (former Hotel Urbano) and forwarded the document to the company. Sometime later, Ana was invited by the Hurb to work with them.
Ana is now the Líder de Novas Verticais at Hurb and explains that the MIM Program prepared her to face new challenges, such as the current one in an area in which she had never worked. In the student's opinion, with the Master in Management from FGV EBAPE and the Master in Business from Católica de Lisboa, she will be prepared to take on many other challenges.
