Olivier Bertrand, Full Professor of Strategy at FGV EBAPE, has been honored with one of the Resonance Articles Awards 2025, granted by IE University (Spain), in recognition of the excellence and global impact of his academic research.
The award highlights the article “Are Firms with Foreign CEOs Better Corporate Citizens? A Study on the Impact of CEO Foreignness on Corporate Social Performance,” published in 2021 in the Journal of International Business Studies. The study is coauthored with Professor Marie-Ann Betschinger (HEC Montreal) and Professor Caterina Moschieri (IE Business School).
The research examines how the nationality of CEOs influences corporate social responsibility policies, investigating whether foreign executives tend to promote more robust social practices within their organizations. By exploring the relationship between executive diversity and corporate social performance, the article contributes to contemporary debates on governance, sustainability, and leadership in global contexts.
The Resonance Articles Awards reflect IE University’s commitment to rigorous, interdisciplinary, and internationally relevant research. Recognized globally for its excellence in business, law, technology, public affairs, and the humanities, IE University created the awards to spotlight studies that advance knowledge and offer innovative approaches to major societal challenges. Each year, the awards honor scholars whose work exemplifies academic quality, social relevance, and the transformative power of ideas.
This recognition highlights FGV EBAPE’s international visibility, academic excellence, and ongoing contribution to global research in strategy and international business. It also reinforces the School’s role as a leading institution in producing knowledge that is relevant to today’s global landscape.
