FGV EBAPE Participates in the Launch of Pró-Defesa V in Brasília

FGV EBAPE, represented by Professor Paulo Negreiros Figueiredo, participated in the launch of the 5th Edition of the Support Program for Education and Scientific and Technological Research in National Defense (Pró-Defesa V). The launch event was held at the Escola Superior de Defesa in Brasília on October 9 and 10, 2024, bringing together civil and military authorities, as well as coordinators of the selected research projects.

The Pró-Defesa Program, a joint initiative between the Ministry of Defense and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES/MEC), aims to promote collaborative research projects and foster human resources in the field of National Defense across Brazil.

During the event, Professor Figueiredo presented the research project he coordinates, titled “Public Policies, Industry, Duality, and National Defense: Evidence for a Development Agenda for the Brazilian Defense Industrial Base” (Pró-Defesa V – Call 36/2023, CAPES – National Defense). This project, led by Fundação Getulio Vargas, includes a network of partner institutions, such as the Brazilian Army Command and General Staff School (ECEME), the Brazilian Air Force University (UNIFA), the Escola Superior de Defesa (ESD), Fluminense Federal University (UFF), and the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT).

Scheduled for the period from 2024 to 2029, the project offers research scholarships at the master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral levels, and is open to new collaborations with organizations and researchers committed to the development and strengthening of Brazil's Defense Industrial Base.
