Event discusses teacher training in early childhood education
The Center for Excellence and Innovation in Education Policies (CEIPE) of the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE), supported by Fundação Itaú Social and Fundação Maria Cecília Souto Vidigal, will host the seminar titled ‘Teacher Training in Early Childhood Education’ on May 9, at 1 p.m., at FGV’s Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro. The event will address the elements needed to ensure quality Early Childhood Education, in light of the education rights set forth in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), as well as the key components of effective professor training within this context.
The first panel will address ways of guaranteeing the education rights of Early Childhood Education set forth in the BNCC for daycares and preschools. Among the panelists are the Director of Curriculum and Integral Education, professor Raph Gomes, and professors Maria Malta Campos, from Fundação Carlos Chagas, Monica Samia, from Avante Educação, and Audaci de Lima Silva, from the daycare Escola Municipal Quinze de Novembro, in Camaragibe (Pernambuco).
The second panel will include Claudia Costin, Director of CEIPE, Claudia Lagos, professor at Universidad Diego Portales, and Marisa Ferreira, professor at Instituto Vera Cruz, who will discuss the key elements of effective professor training in Early Childhood Education.
Finally, professor Linda Darling-Hammond, from Stanford University (California), will close the seminar with a lecture on ‘Professor training and the transition from early childhood education to primary school’. The event will also include the launch of a partnership between CEIPE and the Learning Policy Institute (LPI), chaired by professor Linda Darling-Hammond, starting with the release of four LPI policy briefs that were translated and contextualized to the Brazilian reality.
