Professor Luiz Antonio Joia, from the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE), has been named among the Top Scholars 2024 by the international platform ScholarGPS, which ranks academics based on quantitative metrics such as scientific productivity, impact, and publication quality.
According to the platform, Professor Joia is among the top 0.5% of the most influential researchers in the world, considering both his career-long output and his performance over the past five years. The recognition spans multiple fields of knowledge, with particular emphasis on Intellectual Capital, Government, and the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Professor Joia is considered a pioneer in research on Intellectual Capital, having published some of the most cited papers on the subject and contributing early on as both author and Editorial Board member of the Journal of Intellectual Capital (Emerald). In the field of Government, he was one of the first to conduct research on e-government in Brazil and is a founding member of IFIP’s WG 8.5 – Information Systems in Public Administration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his research focused on the impact of information and communication technology on online teaching and learning, as well as on the productivity and satisfaction of professionals working remotely.
