Experience
Tassia Cruz is the executive manager of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Educational Policies and a professor at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV-Brazil). Tassia holds a PhD in Economics of Education from Stanford University Graduate School of Education, a Master’s Degree in Economics also from Stanford and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil. Tassia has previously worked as a project manager in the Brazilian Secretariat of Strategic Actions (SAE), being responsible for the design of the education finance component. She has also worked as a World Bank consultant in education finance projects and impact evaluations, engaging with several Ministries of Education and Regional Educational Secretariats in Latin America and the Caribbean Region. Her research concentrates on education policy in Brazil, particularly on education finance, teacher labor market, technology in education and impact evaluations aiming at improving student learning.
