The program
Research Tracks
In addition to a comprehensive and well-rounded education, students entering the MEX program must choose one of the research tracks offered by the Program. Upon completion of the course, students are awarded the title of Master in Administration.
In addition to the Program’s core courses, students are also required to complete the specific courses of their chosen track. In this case, there are three options available:
Corporate Finance and Accounting
This track encompasses studies and research focused on both conceptual and empirical aspects related to the preparation, disclosure, and utilization of economic-financial information for resource allocation decisions, as well as on the teaching and development of competencies necessary for these activities. It covers areas such as Auditing, Corporate Accounting, Corporate Finance, Valuation, Risk Management, Judgment and Decision-Making in Finance and Accounting, Quantitative Methods Applied to Finance and Accounting, as well as topics in Regulation, Fraud, and Information Manipulation.

It examines the management of intangibles (such as culture, leadership, and trust relations) as a strategic competence and competitive advantage. This track seeks to analyze team and interpersonal relations, assessing corporate social responsibility. It includes areas such as personnel, organizational structure, processes, and organizational behavior.
Program structure
With lectures, seminars, and group work supported by audiovisual and multimedia resources, MEX focuses on the practice of acquired knowledge. Much of the work carried out encourages debate and the exchange of experiences between participants, which makes students active agents in their learning processes, being co-responsible for the quality of the final product.
Program structure
The curriculum structure is based on:
- 5 mandatory courses;
- 6 elective courses
- 1 method course
Each one is equivalent to two credits.
Total credits to obtain a degree:
Courses: 24 credits
Project: 6 credits
Final Paper: 10 credits
Total credits: 40 credits
Reference: 1 credit = 15h
Defense of Final Paper
The final work is developed, under the academic guidance of a course professor, in the form of a dissertation, based on field research carried out by the student himself. The defense takes place before a public panel, made up of three PhD professors, one of whom is a professor external to FGV EBAPE.
It is important to highlight that, to defend the final work, the student must have their project approved (6 credits), have completed the mandatory and elective courses (24 credits), and obtain at least a final average of 7. They must also have submitted an article at a area congress.

CAPES/MEC ASSESSMENT: 5
The Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES) of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (Ministério da Educação - MEC) periodically evaluates master’s program through an annual monitoring and four-yearly performance assessment of all programs that comprise the National Graduate System (Sistema Nacional de Pós-graduação - SNPG).
The Executive Master’s in Business Administration (MEX) received a score of 5, the maximum score for professional-level courses, proving its high level of quality.
