Research lines
The Executive Master´s in Business Administration counts on three research lines:
Business strategy
This line of research seeks to analyze processes and interventions that change the organizations’ relationship with the market and society. The studies explore forming and managing strategic alliances, partnerships, mergers & acquisitions, and internationalization processes. Also, research contemplates the analysis of the impact of strategies and marketing phenomena on the performance of organizations. It covers the process of formulation and implementation of managerial and technological innovations and involves areas such as entrepreneurship, innovation, governance, marketing, information systems, internationalization, business processes, strategy, and decision- making.
Behavior and Strategic People Management
The line of research investigates the dynamics of individual behavior and the relationships and interactions among individuals in organizations. It includes the study of the impacts of people management policies and practices in organizations and their alignment with the organizational strategy. Research works include the management of organizational intangibles such as culture, leadership, and trust as a strategic competency and competitive advantage. It seeks to analyze the relations between the areas of labor relations and people management, as well as their connection with corporate social responsibility. Corporate Finance and Accounting
The studies in this line of research focus on conceptual and empirical aspects related to the elaboration, dissemination, and use of economic and financial information indecision-making about resource allocation. Also, the studies emphasize teaching and developing competencies necessary to perform these activities. It unfolds in: Audit; Corporate accounting; Corporate finance; Valuation; Risk management; Judgment and Decision-making in Finance and Accounting; Quantitative Methods Applied to Finance and Accounting; Regulation, Fraud, and Manipulation of Information.

Curriculum structure
With lectures, seminars, and group work, supported by audiovisual and multimedia resources, the Executive Master´s in Business Administration (MEX) program focuses on the practical application of knowledge. Much of the work encourages debate and the exchange of experiences among participants, making students active agents in their learning processes and co-responsible for the quality of the final product.
A estrutura curricular é baseada em: The curriculum structure is based on:
- Six compulsory courses (each worth 2 academic credits)
- Six elective courses (each worth 2 academic credits)
Total credits to obtain a degree:
- Courses: 24 credits
- Project: 4 credits
- Final Paper: 7 credits
- Reference: 1 credit = 15h
- Total credits: 35 credits
Public Defense of Final Paper
The final paper will be carried out under the academic guidance of a professor who is part of the FGV EBAPE faculty on the permanent staff of FGV EBAPE. The final paper is a thesis based on the student’s field research. The defense is public, with the participation of a board of three PhD professors, one of whom is not a professor at FGV EBAPE.
To defend the final paper, the student’s project must be approved (four credits), have completed the 24 necessary course credits, and obtained at least a final average of seven, considering the complete set of courses studied (compulsory and elective).
After all the mentioned procedures, the student can request their master’s degree diploma.

This document aims to guide students on the main academic procedures of the program and facilitate their interaction with the various sectors of FGV EBAPE that are directly involved with the program.
CAPES ASSESSMENT
The Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) periodically evaluates evaluates master’s programs through an annual monitoring and four-yearly performance assessment of all programs that comprise the National Graduate System (SNPG).
In its first CAPES assessment, FGV EBAPE’s Executive Master’s Program in Business Management scored 5 – which is the highest score awarded by the agency. This is a remarkable achievement considering CAPES’s highly demanding requirements.

Teaching assistantship
During the teaching internship, the Heads of the Master´s in Business Administration (MEX), the Professional Master´s in Public Administration (MAP), and the Master of Science and Doctoral Programmes (MSc & PhD) announce vacancies for teaching assistantships in courses throughout the academic year.
The heads of the programs release public notices periodically, sent to the academic community via e-mail. The students can participate in the selection process for teaching assistants if they are enrolled in FGV EBAPE’s graduate programs (stricto sensu) and are up-to-date with academic requirements (according to their program’s guidelines and regulations). Alumni who completed the program no more than two years ago (only for former students of FGV EBAPE’s professional and academic master’s) can also apply.
The selective process consists of four stages:
- Curriculum analysis;
- Investigation of the academic situation by the respective coordination of the candidate's course;
- Interview with the MEX coordinator;
- Selection by the professor responsible for the discipline.
